A minute of thought is worth more than an hour of talk... MR. IMPACT ON LEADERSHIP.
Great leaders are deep thinkers. Visions emanate in the process of deep thinking. And the deeper your thought is, the bigger your vision. Dreams and visions are not what you see while you sleep, they are mostly delivered in the process of deep thinking.
Bill Gates was once found by his mother, seated alone, thinking; when his mother called to distract him...he said "Yes, Mom, I'm thinking," he said fiercely. "Have you ever tried thinking?" That might sound ridiculous to you though, but the lesson therein is that great leaders place high priority in their thinking time. The arsenal of any great leader is found in two rooms: His library and His thought-room. Deep thinkers are high fliers. Little wonder the greatest leader that ever lived, Jesus Christ, said ''Who among you is intending to build a tower, will not first sit down and count the cost...?" He was simply showing us the value of taking time out to think before taking any step. And the deeper you think, the higher you build. The level of your thought is the level of your touch...The problem of man is summarized in these two forms: 1. Acting without thinking. 2. Thinking without acting. The worst of the two is the first. Many people act without thinking; and that is why they are not fit into leadership position. Weak leaders act before thinking, probably due to external pressure or impatience which in turn culminate into regret and failure. But great leaders are strong-willed, they are never pushed by external forces but had good thinking moment before any action. Great leaders gather momentum via deep thinking and gain strong confidence to withstand any external push or pressure. Deep thought generates inner strength which is a great criteria for good leadership. One of the arrows shut at any intending leader is discouragement. And nothing weakens a man faster than discouragement... People's words and actions negating your good intentions for them. Discouragement is a fast killer of good intentions if the necessary inner drive is lacking. Discouragement is just the direct opposite of encouragement which is from the root word ''courage.'' The first attribute of a great leader in the making is courage. Taking the giant steps regardless of the external voices and oppositions. Show me a man of courage and I will show you a man who is unstoppable in his ways. Courage is a vital key to excellent leadership. A leader without courage will soon fizzle out of leadership position. Why? Because not everyone will see things in the same direction with you. It therefore takes courage to: 1. Move fearlessly in that direction and 2. Make people see what you saw and follow you...courage!
