Who is a leader?  
What is leadership?

A leader is simply the person who knows the way, who goes the way, and is able to take others through the way.
Leadership on the other hand is seeing ahead, going ahead, and taking others along.
In the light of these two definition, we shall be uncovering the leadership tool box to identify the basic elements for emerging leadership or becoming a real leader. These basic elements are the three keys which when rightly applied by just anyone from anywhere, is capable of delivering undeniable results.
What are these basic tools or elements....?
They are:
VISION
COURAGE
INFLUENCE
Because leadership is seeing ahead, and a leader is he who knows the way, VISION is therefore a prerequisite for any leader in the making. It is a non-negotiable fact that leaders are made, not born. Or suffice it to say everyone is born a potential leader but must be trained to emerge leadership.
Just as you cannot give what you do not have, no one can leade others where he does not know. Knowing where you are going is what defines vision, and this is where the journey begins. Vision is a vital ingredient in the making of a leader. It is the light needed for the journey into leadership. Therefore, when your vision is cleared, your leadership is geared toward success.
Nothing gives confidence to a leader, and guarantees posterity of his leadership like the certainty of his vision. Just as the people perish where there is no vision, no leader has a future without a vision!
One special quality that stands out among great leaders is tthe quality of vision. Leaders are visionares. Show me a man of vision and I will show you a leader in the making.
The second important element in the leadership tool box is COURAGE. It is one thing to know where you are going, it is another thing to get up to go. Courage is the principal requirement for exploit in the journey of a leader.
You can discover where the journey leads via the power of vision, but it doesn't stop there nor get youu there. You need to step out with courage and go the way. To merely stare at the stairs will not take you the height it leads. Every leader who will excel in the journey have an inevitable need for couragge. Men of courage are men of conquest. Leadership is all about taking up challenges and conquering them...this remains  impossible without courage. Many people  have dreams and visionn they have failed to actualize because of lack of courage; they are held bond by the fear of the unknown. There is a voice behind every true and genuine vision, empowering it for maximum delivery; the voice is, ''Be strong and of good courage...''
We need courage to be an effective leader. It is the potent fuel  that can power our dreams, secure our visions and inspire others to follow us willingly. Any leader who will experience explosive results must learn to take giant moves via courage toward his vision, and also mobilizing others to follow through his positive influence on them.
The third element and of vital importance in the leadership tool box is INFLUENCE. The ability to take others along. The hallmark of leadership is influence. You are not a leader because you have followers. You only have followers because you are a leader. People respond to you according to your level of influence on them. And the more influential you are, the more attention and audience you command. The real leader is able to influence others to follow him in the journey without an iota of force or manipulation. Never claim to be leading when no one is interested in following you. It is inspiration and not manipulation that defines a good leadership. The crises between a leader and the followers mostly stem out from the leader's manipulating spirit. There is a clear difference between a leader and a boss. Your positive influence on your follower commands their positive response to you.
Conclusively, you can't lead if you don't influence. You can't influence if you don't inspire. You can't inspire if you don't have passion. And passion is a product of a genuine vision. Get it right!
